Eight months after a car accident left him a paraplegic, Jarrod Emeny has not given up on his sporting career having recently competed in the Kevin Coombes Cup in Townsville as part of the NSW Blue Hornets under 18s team.

The seventeen year old first spoke of wheelchair basketball at the time he underwent his first spinal surgery on the day of the accident.
Prior to the cup, Emeny had attended the wheelchair sports camp at Narrabeen in December last year, while also attending the NSW under 18s training camp on April 6 and 7, and has also had basketball training every fortnight with other NSW junior players at Mount Druitt.

It was during the period of April 15 and April 21 the NSW team made it all the way to the bronze medal game for the Kevin Coombes Cup to face off against Victoria.
The match went into double overtime with the scoreboard sitting at 75-77 NSW's way, only to have NSW score once again to claim the bronze, 82-75.
Next up for Emeny is the National Wheelchair Basketball League that plays through from May to August.
