Developed in partnership with the Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise, the scholarship honours the memory of former member and TAFE NSW Mudgee teacher, Sandy Smith, who passed away in 2014. It recognises students studying foundation skills at TAFE NSW and aims to encourage students to achieve their career goals.
Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise member, Birgit Smith, said this was the third time the club had awarded the scholarship and was very excited to find such deserving applicants.
"Both students are passionate about getting the skills needed to follow their own and very rewarding career paths," she said. "We hope the scholarship of $375 each will help Taylah and Virginia continue their studies and develop new and exciting interests at TAFE NSW."
TAFE NSW student engagement officer, Angie Trevor-Jones, said Taylah, who is studying a TAFE Statement in HSC Studies and a Certificate I in Preparation for Work and Training and Virginia, a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), were excited to receive the support.
"The scholarship is very generous and both the successful students and TAFE NSW are thrilled with the Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise's encouragement," she said. "This financial support will allow Taylah and Virginia to develop the job-ready skills to be in a career they'll love."
Enrolments for semester two are now open for a wide range of courses at TAFE NSW, for more information visit www.tafensw.edu.au or phone 131 601.
