Mathew Deveigne, aged 30, of Rodgers Street, Kandos, was sentenced to an 18-month Community Correction Order and fined $300.
Throughout the afternoon of Saturday, April 20, 2019, Deveigne had been drinking at home and began verbally abusing the victim.
At about 10.15pm he started yelling at her and going through the house breaking multiple objects belonging to the victim.
The police were called and arrested Deveigne who, when searched, was found to be in possession of 2.8g of cannabis.
Magistrate Alexander Mijovich told the defendant, "you haven't had any domestic violence offences for about two years, but you've got seven on your record".
And added, "any domestic violence offences are unacceptable".
His honour also imposed a condition to the Community Correction Order that Deveigne abstain from alcohol and illicit drugs.
"So that's 18 months - when there'll be birthdays and other celebrations - when you can only drink water," he said.
