Jamie Lee Flaherty of Mortimer Street, Mudgee, was stopped by police in order to conduct random breath and drug testing on the afternoon of Thursday, March 7, 2019.
The oral fluid sample returned a positive result for methamphetamine and he was taken to Mudgee Police Station, where a second test also showed the presence of the drug.
Police documents submitted to the court said that Flaherty told officers, "I smoked some cannabis last night, I can't remember when I last smoked ice - maybe two weeks ago. It is not a regular thing".
He was charged with 'Drive vehicle, illicit drug present in blood etc' and fined $330 and disqualified for six months.
Magistrate David Day - noting a prior charge within the last five years - said, "he's not entitled to any leniency".
