On the back of a devastating 26-10 loss to the Lithgow Workies, heavyweights, Mudgee Dragons knew what had to be done to ensure there was no repeat against the Oberon Tigers.

Club president, Sebastian Flack told the Mudgee Guardian the red and white outfit had a plan and after the 'worst game two weeks ago against Lithgow', that plan would need to eventuate if a win was on the cards.
"We knew we needed to be a lot better after our worst game two weeks ago against Lithgow. We worked hard and set a game plan that we were able to execute, went back to basics and held on to the ball," Flack said.
Doubling a dose of bad luck, at the exact time a fight broke out on the field, Dragon, Chad Chandler suffered a break of his leg resulting in an 11 versus 11 format with two Oberon players sent off while another of Mudgee's had been taken off for 10 minutes in the sin bin.
Flack says the difference between securing the 50-6 win had a lot to do with perfecting the basics.
"The difference was our ball control, discipline, fitness and toughness. We had a simple game plan of run hard, tackle hard and we did that," he said.
"We showed that if we keep it simple, we will out work teams, so we will just be working on the same thing and executing that week in week out. Saturday was probably our most polished performance.
Oberon although tough, they were poorly disciplined and it seems as though there is a cultural issue there at the club as there were fights and multiple send offs in three grades of football. I know there's a lot of sore noses, split lips, and sore heads today.

"It's not how we like to play."
It wasn't only a victorious day for the prem's side, but also for reserve grade (72-4), under 18s (48-6) and women's league tag (20-1) - the second four grade sweep for the club this season.
"Any four grade win is excellent, it was a good finish to the day as we hosted the junior league out at Glen Willow as well. It just shows that all the hard work at training and the work everyone puts in to improve is working and all players are committed to success," Flack said.
Reserve grade and under 18s turned around from round one defeats against Oberon, to putting in 74-4 and 48-6 convincing wins. The smiles on the faces off the minis, as they got to play on the big field between games is always good, even braving the cold weather.
"It was a big effort from all our volunteers to organise a day like yesterday so I would like to thank them all. Also I would like to thank all the supporters that braved the cold conditions to cheer on the boys."
This week the Mudgee Dragons will take on the Blayney Bears at Glen Willow Stadium on June 30 at 2pm.
"We are going to be missing a few from injury and probably suspension in a few grades so we won't be taking blayney lightly as we want to continue our dominant form. It's a particularly big game for the under 18s as it is a 3v4 clash and they have the opportunity to gap them on the ladder by four points," Flack said.
