I'm perplexed at the media announcement of the proposed Burrundulla Solar Farm.
Firstly I'm in favour of solar power generation while ever it's safe, environmentally friendly, cost effective and located logically.
Burrundulla is a prime housing, small acre real estate area within close proximity to Mudgee. A solar farm will ensure it's prime description will be lost and land values will be depleted.
More importantly the aesthetic disaster as tourists visiting our wonderful area see this eye sore when travelling into town, down from "Rayner's Hill", runs the risk of negatively impacting Mudgee's image and in turn reducing highly important income to the Mudgee region.
There are successful solar power projects in Western NSW, located in lower cost areas, away from populated areas that hopefully benefit our state. Locations for all solar power projects must be carefully considered. Prime real estate leading into a growing beautiful country town is not the right place for this project.
It is a great project... IN THE WRONG LOCATION!
