John, aged 71, was a Committee Member, Director and a Life Member of the Club for over 30 years.
John was on the forefront with his fellow colleagues sharing his knowledge and experience to contribute to the growth of the Club, including many extensions and upgrades.
At every race day you would find John in the Judge's box, often first at the track and the last to leave. His passion for racing saw him become a part owner of many horses.
One of his favourite was Mr. Comedy who had his last win at Mudgee, and went on to be an event horse for a local trainer's daughter.
John loved music and we would often hear John singing some of his old favourite songs from Frank Sinatra around the race club.
John spent his working life as a Health and building inspector and then became a Director of the Mudgee Council until retirement.
John's continued love for the community saw John serve as a Councillor. He also served on the Sports Council, Mudgee Combined Sports Ground Trust and on the board of Club Mudgee and became a Life Member.
There wasn't many a Sunday in winter that John wasn't at the football ground cheering the Mudgee Dragons on. For some entertainment and a few laughs John participated in the performing Arts.
John served his Country and his Community.
We Salute you, JW
