The Mudgee Guardian went to Legacy Mudgee on Market Street on Monday morning to see a new sign that had been donated by Rob Duffy and his team at Image Signs. We quickly learned however that the donation meant more than that.
Image Signs had designed the original sign at the building's opening in 2007, when Rob Duffy and his team was approached to make a replacement, Rob said he was happy to provide it free of charge.

"We were approached to do ao new sign, because the old one had come to the end of its life - and I decided to donate it because Legacy had been really good to my mother-in-law over the years," Rob said.
The sign would be worth approximately $350 plus the cost of the labour involved making it.
President of Mudgee Northwest Legacy, Rodger Howard said the donation meant that money could be spent helping families and children of active and former Defence Force personnel.

"The dollars that we get are very limited. Most of our money is gathered on badge day which is the first Friday in September," Rodger said.
"For every dollar you donate to us by buying a badge, we get four dollars back from headquarters in Sydney. So we actually get four for one, that means thanks to Rob's donation of this sign, it means we don't have to spend money that goes from badge day into making sure the building looks good,"
"This sign signifies Legacy as a presence in this area. Legacy has been involved in looking after widows and their dependent children for close to 100 years,"
"We get involved in local people, looking after their interests, trying to help them to stay as independent as possible,"
"Without the donation of the sign, people think it's just another building Market Street, but thanks to Rob, we can now let people see that this is a place that has a lot of life in it,"
"We look after a total of 148 widows in this area, plus their children. We have seven children were looking after currently,"
"One of those children is now in University - but the other children were looking after, we buy them school uniforms, we take them on excursions, we supply all their basic needs."
