The St Matthew's Catholic School student decided to participate in the youth leadership and personal development program for many reasons including, "wanting to challenge myself further, hoping to learn new skills and I wanted to be pushed from my comfort zone".
For her Community Service Project she has worked with the Vietnam Veterans hostel on the Central Coast to hold a scrapbooking workshop with the residents. "This would allow them to look through their old photos as well as share their stories," she said.
Clare's community coach is Chandelle Newbigging, from McGrath.
"This has assisted me in so many ways, including, her patience, her ability to make our experience a good one and her persistence in pushing me when I get slack," she said. "I am very grateful for the time that she has given up for all our sessions and the connect groups so far this year.
"I have had experience with community volunteering previously, but the aim of this program was for us to reach out to the organisations ourselves. This was challenging but also an advantage in ways because it allowed me to get out of my comfort zone, and to help me in reaching my final goal.
"I have somewhat enjoyed the challenges that I have had to work out throughout this opportunity, yet I am very grateful that they are over. I would like to thank Club Mudgee for their support and the resources they have allowed us to use."
- The young adults will share the challenges and change experienced in their six-month personal leadership journey with Club Mudgee Max Potential, Friday, August 2, at the program showcase. Come and see inspiring Year 10 students and their displays at Club Mudgee, from 5-7pm, (formal presentation from 6pm).
