Book Week
Each year, the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) celebrates Book Week, bringing children and books together. The CBCA Book of the Year Awards Winner and Honour Books will be announced on Friday, August 16, and Book Week commences the following day running until August 23.
To help celebrate, the Library will soon be inviting local students from preschool, kindergarten, Year 1 and 2, and child care centres to participate in some entertaining book-themed activities. We look forward to celebrating Book Week 2019 with you.
Good Reading Magazine
Good Reading Magazine is a monthly magazine for the book lover. It helps readers around Australia discover the best authors, books and writing from here and across the globe.
Full of independent book reviews of the latest releases from overseas and Australian writers, all sorts of books are covered no matter what your taste from general fiction, crime, fantasy, history, biography, health, arts, gardening, cooking and kids' books for all ages. DVDs
Did you know the library also has DVDs available to borrow? Ranging from new releases to old favourites, and including both movies and popular TV series, you can borrow up to four DVDs per library card. The best part? They are free to borrow.
August movies
New release movies screen at the Mudgee Town Hall Cinema on the first weekend of every month. August 2, 3 and 4 are Yesterday, Red Joan, and Toy Story 4. Ticketing information is on the Town Hall Cinema website and Facebook page. Remember to check back each month to see the upcoming movies.
