An event at the Wollemi Standing Stones in Rylstone
What's the gist?: A development application was put forward for the use of a single piece of land in Rylstone for an event. Specifically at 90 Bartletts Road in Rylstone. Per the application:
The single annual event is for approximately 3.5 hours, for a maximum of 150 attendees, with entry gained by pre-purchased tickets only. The event is to be held at the northern end of the 42ha property, where the existing 'Wollemi Standing Stones' are located. The closest neighbouring residence is approximately 500-600m away.
With the event running for only a few hours and capped at 150 attendees, this isn't planned to be a huge event it seems. More details in the application say that live music is to be performed among the Standing Stones.
See the full details, including the five submissions received on the DA during its exhibition period HERE.
Keeping animals in urban areas policy
What's the gist?: The policy regarding the keeping of animals in urban areas could be changed per the recommendation. It aims to protect the welfare of animals and reduce the 'incidences of nuisance being caused to persons'. Think the crowing rooster that might be waking you up at sunrise.
The revised policy also aims to better educate people, set standards and to clearly state which animals are prohibited and under which circumstances are allowed.
Of note, the following animals are NOT allowed to be kept in urban areas:
- Roosters
- Goats
- Sheep
- Cattle
- Pigs
However, it also states that exceptions could be made for people on areas of land larger than 1ha on a case-by-case basis if a written submission with certain information like land size and the type and amount of certain animals is received by Council.
A lot more details, including which zoned areas are considered 'urban' can be found here.
More parking for the Big W car park
What's the gist?: This one is an amendment to the original Development which was accepted by Council way back in November 2003. The parking on the Market Street side of the Big W car park as it exists now would be changed form parallel parking to 90 degree.
This would mean the green area to the left of the current parking would effectively be reduced to allow space for the new parking style, though the hedges would remain. Of course this would mean an increase in the amount of parking spaces also.
More money for Bylong Valley Way upgrades
Per the Council document:
Council has been successful in receiving $3,888,750 from the NSW State Government under the Restart NSW Resources for Regions fund to provide significant upgrades to 9.4km of Bylong Valley Way.
The Bylong Valley Way route requires essential upgrades to enable a continuous link to Rylstone, Kandos and surrounding areas in the region and state.
The proposed project is for the capital upgrade of a 9.4km section of the Bylong Valley Way in five segments including the Bylong township, which is approximately 51.5km from the township of Rylstone.
The project will be delivered over a 4-year timeframe.
Youth Council events
The idea of an escape room held at The Stables sounds really cool. You can check out what the Youth Council is up to and what else they have planned here.
