Now in its 19th year, the Mudgee Running Festival is more popular that it's ever been with record numbers signing up to run one of the four events held at the weekend.
Exactly 1061 people entered this year's Running Festival with the 5km run/walk proving the most popular with 495 registrations.

"We're trying to reach people who don't normally run or people that have just started doing a Parkrun maybe," he said.
"We've also got the Miner's Cup where we encourage people from the mines to come out and race so you get a lot of people that don't usually come and run and they tend to do the 5k.
"We actually had so many more than we expected that we started to run out of medals. It's a good problem to have." Matt laughed.
Matt said the continued success of the festival wouldn't be possible without the support of the community and Council.
"We have a very supportive Council and we have a good place to run as well, a lot of people comment on how pretty the run is," he said.
"We get a lot of groups come up as well, They want to come up to the Mudgee region and so they make a weekend of it. They like to stay the night and see the wineries and go out."

Mid-Western Regional Council Mayor, Des Kennedy said he was pleased to see support for such a well-organised event.
"It was great to see hundreds of runners of all ages and abilities taking part and getting out and about in our beautiful region," Cr Kennedy said.
"I commend the committee involved in co-ordinating such a well organised event. Events such as these benefit the local economy and attract visitors to the region and Council is proud to support this and other community events through its Events Assistance Program."
