With almost 120 locals signed up for the event, the ANSW Health Team is looking forward to sharing effective strategies using nutrition and exercise to help their Mudgee audience live their best lives with arthritis.
ANSW CEO Sandra Vincent said that the strategies had brought positive results to people living with musculoskeletal conditions, making a difference to their levels of pain, mobility and daily lives.
"The number of people living with arthritis in Australia has reached 18 per cent of the population and that statistic equates to almost 2000 people living in the Mudgee area who face the daily challenges of arthritis," she said.
"We took our Living Well with Arthritis presentation to rural audiences over the past 12 months as a trial to address the shortfall of health services in country areas. The experience convinced us to make our rural program a permanent part of our calendar.
"We have always been well received, but I have to say that the response from Mudgee has exceeded other rural centres."
The seminar will consist of two parts; the ANSW presentation will provide exercise, nutrition and pain management strategies to live well with arthritis. Co-presenter and supporter Hearing Australia will present on how to care for your hearing and will offer free hearing checks on the day.
The event will begin with registrations at 10am and the presentations will start at 10.30am. Bookings are essential, visit arthritisnsw.org.au/health-services/rural-health-initiative. For more info, contact ANSW on (02) 9857 3300.
Arthritis NSW runs an annual rural appeal to raise money to make these events possible and ensure that people in rural NSW have access to information to help them manage their condition. To support this cause, visit arthritisnsw.org.au to donate.
