After a long and courageous battle, Liam Potts died surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 21 at 11.30am.
In memory of Liam, the Mudgee Guardian featured his smiling face and loving parents on the front page of Tuesday's newspaper. That is the same day Liam will be farewelled at a service for friends and family in Wyong.
Emily and Damon are encouraging children attending to wear a costume and come as their favourite character to celebrate with them. All over social media, people are changing their profile photos to pictures of superheroes in support.
Emily and Damon provided a short message to the Mudgee Guardian thanking everyone for everything they did to support and care for Liam and his family.
Damon and I can not express how much we just adore the love and support shown by our home town.
Liam went peacefully in his mummy and daddy's arms with us finally being able to cuddle him while singing his signature song and telling him not to be scared and that it's ok, and we are SO DAMN proud of him.
It was the hardest day of our lives.
You all showed our boy Liam just how amazing this world can be especially in such a small town.
We will be forever grateful.
Warmest hugs to you all.
- Emily and Damon
A service to celebrate Liam's life will be held on Tuesday, 27 August at 10:30am at Bowden Family Funerals in Wyong in NSW.
Damon and Emily ask if you wish for your children to attend that they would 'LOVE' if they dressed up as their favourite character to celebrate with them.
Following the service, at 12pm, a celebration of Liam will be held at the Wyong Golf Club for finger food and drinks.
'We want to celebrate him so we can think of it as a party for Liam.'
