September at the Library

Please join us on September 2, 10.30am at the Town Hall Theatre for an extra special Monday History Talk with Dr Ian Willis, Honorary Fellow at the University of Wollongong. Hundreds of young single Australian-born country women travelled to London and beyond from the mid-to-late 19th century. This is largely an untold story in the history of country towns in New South Wales. Dr Willis will use case studies from Camden to illustrate how local historians, genealogists and others might tell the story and experiences of young women from their own district travelling to London. This is an official event of History Week 2019, supported by the History Council of NSW via a grant from the NSW Government through Create NSW.
