Thompson finished the meeting with a winning double but the highlight was the victory for Sugar Dance in the $30,000 XXXX Gold Mudgee Mug (1400m).

The event hadn't started well for Thompson as his second hope in the event, Attalea, was scratched at the barriers but when the race did get under way it was all about Sugar Dance.
Promising apprentice Kate Cowan got the gelding away well from gate 11 and immediately got across to take the lead.
Sugar Dance ($7.50) led from a fading and Cowboys Karma ($8.50) in the straight and went on to win by two-and-a-half-lengths from Bravissimo ($3.50 favourite) and Artistic Beauty ($7).
