Children and their families were invited to the official opening of the Gulgong Adventure Playground by Mid-Western Regional Council Mayor Des Kennedy and Dubbo MP Dugald Saunders this week.

As part of the official opening celebrations, Council offered each child a free scoop of Gelato from the Bank Corner Wine and Gelato Bar.
The playground was jointly funded by Mid-Western Regional Council and the NSW Government through its Clubgrants Infrastructure Grant Program., the purpose-built playground completes a recreational precinct in Gulgong within walking distance of the Gulgong Pool, Bill Dunn Oval and the all new Gulgong Skate Park.
Great musicians coming: The Prince of Wales Hotel will have some wonderful entertainment this long weekend when Wanita - Australia's queen of Honkytonk comes to Gulgong.
Raised on the Murray River she always sang along with Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams CD's long before she started school. Her music career has taken her to great heights and with three successful albums to her name she finally realized her lifelong dream by recording an album in Nashville Tennessee.
Wanita is teaming up with the "king" of honkytonk, Rob Luckey, and troubadour wing woman Gleny Rae Virus for a south east coast tour which will bring them to Gulgong over the long weekend. The show will be on Friday, October 4 at 8pm. This is a free event.
What's on for kids: The Gulgong Gold Experience is very popular with the children. Gold panning is available and is an ideal way of entertaining the kids while they are being educated about the Gulgong gold rush of 1870. Open every day from 1pm - 3pm the cost is $3 for kids, $5 adults, $15 family and $5 each for panning. No bookings are necessary. The Gold Experience is in Saunders Avenue Gulgong M 0418541998.
The Mayne Street Café are again having their morning cooking classes. This year the theme is Halloween. The children will be making Halloween cookies and decorations. The classes go for two hours from 10am to midday at a cost of $25 per child. On 31st October, which is Halloween at 5.30pm the Mayne Street Café is again having its haunted house party. This year there will be three haunted houses. The entry will be free of charge for children who come dressed in their Halloween outfits. Call Stephanie 63741738 for more information.
The Gulgong adventure playground is open every day. This is a wonderful playground for children of all ages and is free of charge. You will find it next door to the swimming pool. The swimming pool is also now open for the holidays 6am to 8am and then 9.30am to 6pm.
