From 8.30am, this ute (donated by Ross Granata Motors with 12 months rego) will be at the St John's Church grounds, and for $5-a-brush children can paint it varying shades of pink.
Before it's off to the races to be auctioned for the McGrath Foundation.
'This is awareness firstly, and raising funds for breast care nurses'
As Mudgee once again pinks up for the McGrath Foundation and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, comes the news that more women are at risk.
On Tuesday, the National Breast Cancer Foundation released new data showing a woman's risk of breast cancer is now one-in-seven, up from one-in-eight in the last year alone.
"The incidences of breast cancer have grown dramatically, even in a short period of time," founder of Pink Up Mudgee, Hugh Bateman, said.
"When I did the Pink Tractor Trek in 2015 it was about 15,000 cases per year, and now it's estimated that 19,535 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in Australia, 164 males and 19,371 females.
"In 2019, it is estimated that the risk of an individual being diagnosed with breast cancer by their 85th birthday will be one-in-seven (one-in-675)."
Hugh said that he's once again proud to see the town once again "Pink Up" for the month of October, with awareness and fundraising clearly more important than ever.
"Mudgee was the first town to Pink Up back in 2016 to raise awareness and funds for the McGrath Foundation, now there are over 70 across Australia," he said.
"There are 130 breast care nurses, but they probably need another 130 - because they do so much.
"But this is awareness firstly, and raising funds for breast care nurses. They look after, not just the physical side, the psychological side as well."
Splashes of the colour of the month can be seen throughout the CBD - and beyond - and the fundraising events set to kick into high gear this Saturday, with the community launch in the morning and races in the afternoon.
