In a bid to celebrate the life of one of the most extraordinary forces to have graced the entertainment scene, country music talent Melinda Schneider will be bringing her 'A Farewell To Doris' concert to the Gulgong stage.
Schneider's love for the ever-entertaining Doris Day began some time ago, and since then, her music and life has continued to be touched in one way or another by the late actress, singer and dancer.
"I first saw Doris on the Saturday afternoon movie on Channel Nine in Calamity Jane and I just fell in love with her," Melinda said.
It was inevitable that one day I was going to do a show about her.

"I loved her character, she was an incredible singer, dancer and actress and very funny as well.
"The songs were country because it was a western movie and those songs resonate strongly with me because of my music background and heritage."
Melinda's visit to the Prince of Wales Opera House will not be her first, and the multi-award winning singer-songwriter says her 'love' for the venue is what is bringing her back.
"I came to Gulgong about 18 months ago and I just loved the little venue, it's gorgeous," she said.
Quite a few people asked me 'When are you bringing your Doris show to Gulgong?' so I decided to come back with this one.
"It's really my chance to pay homage and say goodbye to Doris. The show is not an impersonation, there will only ever be one Doris Day."
In a tasteful twist, Schneider is putting the call out for a local dog to appear on stage during a performance, and is encouraging owners to put their pets' paw in the running.
"Doris Day was a big dog lover. There's one part in the show where I have a very special star poochey on stage with me and I sing to it," Melinda said.
I'm looking for people to email me at management@melindaschneider.com with a photo of their dog and to tell me in 25 words or less why they think their dog is a star and deserves the gig.
'Melinda Schneider: A Farewell To Doris' will be held at the Prince of Wales Opera House, Gulgong on November 9 from 8pm.
