The Bowden's Silver Rylstone Street Feast is on again, Saturday, November 2. The organising committee has made a special effort to make the day user friendly to the visiting public. The Catholic Church grounds will be used to entertain the children with merry-go-round rides, face painting and novelty games. Over 50 stalls will provide a full range of art and produce. A large variety of food stalls will keep the visitors well fed. Continuous music will be on with the improved sound system. Musicians, Jasmine Kernaghan, Bushrock, Jada O'Brien and Grace Woodgate and Mickey Pye will be entertaining, as well as the local schools with Physical Culture, Choir and a Dance Group. Special guests will cut an eighteenth birthday cake. A new event will be the duck races. No live ducks will be used and the running of the event is a 'Too Be Announced" project. The people seated for the Street Feast are guaranteed a great day and with the current organisation the rest of the visitors will thoroughly enjoy themselves.

Todays Spring Menu for the CWA Café
With all funds supporting Barnardos Woman's Refuge House in Bathurst the CWA volunteers have organised todays menu. Mains. Chicken and mushroom casserole with rice, $7, Beef curry with rice $7, Sheperd's pie, Baked ricotta and roasted tomatoes, Salmon Frittata $6. Desserts $4, Banana Cake, Peach Kuchen, $3 Scones with jam and cream. Fresh bread and butter, water, tea & coffee available. Take home or eat-in and separate frozen menu available. From 11.30am to 2pm, Jacques St, Kandos. On Melbourne Cup Day the CWA ladies will not be open as they don't wish to compete with other food entertainment establishments.
Good Showing at Kandos Markets
The St. Laurence Anglican Church markets were held on Saturday at St Laurence Anglican Church Kandos with many stall holders selling quality goods. One stall in particular was run by Dorothy Pike of Glen Davis, selling a range of great candles.
Dorothy has been making candles for over ten years. Her business is Tranqillyn Candlelight comprised of pure Soy candles in various containers which include jars, 9 and 15 hour tea lights in small dishes and glass melts. Her sister Kerry who runs another stall at St Laurence Anglican Church markets sources the containers for her.
"I've always been interested in candles since I was a kid making them from a kit." Said Mrs Pike. "I got into the markets and started selling them; it's a hobby out of control."
"I do refills for people. The main cost is the container, refills are quite cheap. I pick up empty jars and do drop-offs." She said. "I use the correct sized wick for the right container for a good success rate. It's therapeutic making candles."
She said of the markets: "it's the social life, coming to the markets and being around people."

They expect a good crowd at the Kandos markets with the warmer weather and there's much to see and buy. As usual, a barbeque is available with tasty food on offer. The markets raise much needed funds for Anglicare and the Rylstone/ Kandos Parish of St Laurence Anglican Church. The Sunday Rylstone Community Markets held in the grounds of the Globe Hotel held a special McGrath foundation 'Pink-Up' day.
