A range of activities, requiring various maths skills both individually and as teams, meant that the students were engaged while also having "good fun".
Winning schools in each stage were; Stage 3 - St Mary's Catholic School, Wellington, Mudgee Public School and Cudgegong Valley Public School; Stages 4 and 5 - St John's School, Dubbo, St Matthew's, Mudgee and Mudgee High School.
The event was organised by the Rotary Club of Mudgee and the Mathematics Staff at St Matthew's with a barbecue funded by the Mudgee Sunrise Rotary Club and capably cooked by St Matt's students.
"It is great to see the mathematicians of our schools gaining public recognition for their skills and to see the standard achieved by the students in this competition," Ross Hearne, president of the Rotary Club of Mudgee, said.
"We look forward to continuing to support this worthwhile program in Mudgee with the financial support of sponsors who recognise the long term benefits of encouraging these skills in our students."
Prizes were generously donated by Peabody Energy, Yancoal, P&A Engineering and Brindley's Chartered Accountants. With $750, $500 and $250 available for winning schools in the three Stages, ranging from Years 5 and 6 primary to Years 9 and 10 in secondary, competition was intense.
