A Tamworth man who was part of a travelling group that got into a brawl in Dunedoo, was convicted in his absence when he failed to appear in Mudgee Local Court last week.

Jacob Christopher Rooks, aged 33, of Nowland Crescent, Westdale, was fined $220 for the charge 'More than/equal to three people threaten violence cause fear'.
On the evening of Friday, March 15, 2019, the group were celebrating one of their birthdays at the Dunedoo pub. At around 11.30pm one of the men in Rooks' group was in what police described as a "tackling game" with another patron.
However, this became heated and the pair began exchanging words and punches. A number of others intervened and attempted to separate them and the situation erupted.
Rooks' involvement in the brawl including pushing one man and punching another. The entire incident was captured on the pub's CCTV footage.
Upon reading the police facts submitted to the court for sentence - and noting that some of the co-accused were also listed - Magistrate David Day recalled, "[Rooks was] part of a road building crew coming through town that got into a set-to with some of the Dunedoo locals".
