The 'Tallawang Ticklers', a group of mates who hail from the same locality just outside of Gulgong who came together for Movember, have blown past their goal of raising $5000 for men's health.
Member of the group, Brad Honeysett confirmed to the Mudgee Guardian that the 'Ticklers' raised a total of $8289 with $2000 of that coming from a raffle held by the group and drawn on Saturday at the Centennial Hotel in Gulgong.
"It went a lot better than we thought it would, which is a pretty good result," Brad said.
"We had the raffle on Saturday. We made $2000 off the raffle alone. We were only hoping for $1000, so to double that is great."
Also making news:
Brad said they're happy with the result, but it doesn't mean the mo's are going or the support for men's health. Some of the men are even keeping theirs until the region gets some of that rain it sorely needs.
"We're all over the moon that we raised that much above our target and we're all really pleased with the contributions from all three towns that helped out, Gulgong, Dunedoo and Mudgee and how everyone got behind the casuse," Brad said.
"There's a couple of us that have decided to keep them until we get 25ml in 24 hours. So we will see how we go. We might have them until next Movember with the way things are going. But we really hope not."
"I think just amongst us a group that we do need to keep in contact more. We've already said we will keep that going with a group chat and just make everybody aware that we do need to get together and look after each other as mates."
Even though Movember is officially over, doesn't mean the fundraising stops. Brad said people are continuing to donate to their group.
