Grant James Glew of Dickson Court, Mudgee, was sentenced in Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday.
In June he slapped one of the victims while standing over her during an argument. Then in August he pulled her backwards off the stool she was sitting on by the hood of her jumper and slapped her three/four times.
Later that month he grabbed a different victim by the shoulders, also during an argument.
Glew's solicitor, Richard Wise, told the court that the defendant "grew up at a time when corporal punishment was common".
However, Magistrate David Day suggested "you might want to remind your client that it's 2019".
"We wonder why domestic violence persists in the community, it's because people like you won't join the 21st century," his honour directed at the 41-year-old.
Adding that he was "kept out of jail today" by; his early guilty plea, thus accepting responsibility for his actions; his lack of criminal antecedence; and that he's sought treatment for his alcohol use.
