In late November, 55 Mudgee Little Athletics (MLA) athletes competed at the Western Plains Zone Championships in Dubbo, and of the 55, 51 qualified for the regional carnival.
MLA's competitors were up against athletes from Orange, Dubbo, Gilgandra, Gulong, Narromine, Parkes, and more, but Mudgee Little Athletics president Keiren Bennetts says they certainly didn't disappoint.
"Mudgee has a lot of local talent and for the size of our club, we performed really well," he said.
"We have increased our presence within the zone over the last five years in terms of participation and achievement. We are really proud of all our athletes' achievements.
"They performed amazing. They demonstrated a high level of sportsmanship, achievement and maturity given many of them compete in multiple events over each day of the carnival.
It's [results] representative of the hard work put into the club by the committee, parents of the athletes and the athletes themselves.

Bennetts couldn't pick a highlight performance from the day but says the athletes certainly left no category untouched.
"We have amazing athletes in all categories, we have qualifiers in throws, jumps, sprints, distance and walking events, so it's hard to select just one discipline," he said.
With the regional competition set to take place at Barden Park, Dubbo on February 1-2, 2020, training will be in full force.
"Training will be largely individual over the Christmas break, however Little A's will be hosting several training sessions during the holidays," Bennetts said.
As always, thank you to the parents who help the athletes be their best.
