At 10.24am on Wednesday, January 1, Orana Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Burrendong Way at Mumbil as part of the statewide Operation Safe Arrival.

The area is a 50km/h signposted speed limit area.

"Police observed a vehicle travelling well above the posted speed limit as it travelled north in the village," officers said in a statement.

"A check was conducted on Lidar detecting the vehicle up to 103km/h at the end of the check.

"A short time later the male driver, female passenger and their dog were stopped."

Police said the driver was requested to produce his licence and allege that he was unable to do so.

"A check revealed the driver was disqualified from obtaining/holding a licence until February 2020," officers said.

The driver allegedly told police he "didn't realise" he was travelling at such a speed.

The driver was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice to Wellington Local Court later this month.

The offences include drive while disqualified and exceed speed over 45km/h - Lidar.

The vehicle was in another's name and the registration was not cancelled.
