Lindsay John Gorrie of Mayne Street, Gulgong, was sentenced to seven months imprisonment with a non-parole period of four months.
At about 8.50am on Thursday, October 10, 2019, police spoke with Gorrie in Mayne Street about other offences committed in Gulgong. When officers told him he would be searched he handed over his wallet, which contained multiple resealable bags including two that held 0.65g and 0.4g, respectively, of a white crystal substance.
Gorrie admitted that it was methamphetamine and that he was delivering it - on behalf of a person known to police - "just to make a bit of money". And that he'd done this on two prior occasions.
In addition to the 'Supply prohibited drug' charge, the 28-year-old was also sentenced for damage to a police vehicle caused on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. He had been refused bail in Mudgee Local Court and en route to the correctional facility he broke the door of the vehicle by kicking and pressing it.
Back in August, Gorrie had avoided prison when he was sentenced to Community Corrections and Intensive Correction orders for domestic assault incidents and breaching Apprehended Violence Orders (AVO). And Magistrate David Day said that the supply offence is aggravated by the fact it was committed while he was serving those orders.
"While on conditional liberty he was in the business of supplying drugs," he said.
"He now has the misfortune of having his matter reviewed by the State Parole Authority - that is all of his own doing. He was operating as a low-level street dealer, however, without street dealers we wouldn't have drug supply in the community."
