Grass Roots Cricket is set to make a return this month in order to reignite the spirit of cricket in the region.
Last year, the event saw Windeyer Invitation X1 take a graceful fall with 185 odd against Orange Invitation X1 in front of a substantial crowd that included two rather brave streakers.
Once again, these two teams will face off for another year, and former Windeyer captain Greg Hundy says with the ongoing devastating situations that continue to punish the bush, it's a chance to come together.
"It's pretty obvious that we're going through some pretty hard times out here in the bush, villages are struggling a bit and cricket in general is probably struggling a little bit in these smaller towns too," he said.
We're just trying to keep the game alive.

With the ever memorable Ray Menchin having passed away early last year, David Lester, the oldest surviving Western districts player, will be called upon to make the toss.
Meanwhile, Mark Hundy will take over the Windeyer reigns for the 2020 clash.
The Grass Roots Cricket event will be held on January 12 at the Windeyer Sports Ground with the game to commence at 10am.
