The 168,188 hectare blaze is burning to the east of Rylstone and Kandos and remains out-of-control on Monday morning.
"Firefighters were actively engaged in property protection until the early hours of the morning, until a light shower and easing winds moved across the fireground," Cudgegong RFS said.
"Volunteer firefighters from the NSW RFS Cudgegong District have remained on scene overnight monitoring fire progression towards Bylong Valley Way."
This fire is burning through the Wollemi National Park, Coricudgy State Forest, Nullo Mountain State Forest and Putty State Forest. It is burning in the vicinity of Bald Mountain, Frentree Gully and Reedy Creek Road.
Cudgegong RFS said while this bushfire was currently east of Bylong Valley Way, winds blowing from the east would put pressure on this containment lines on Monday.
"Volunteer firefighters continue to monitor fire progression into the areas of Widden, Baerami Creek and Martindale," the RFS said.
"As fire reaches containment lines in open country, firefighters will work to extinguish active fire.
"Where conditions allow, backburning operations may also be undertaken to reduce fire intensity and secure fire edge as it moves into open country."
Cudgegong RFS said the priority on Monday would continue to be on protecting life and property as required.
Crews will also work to identify, establish and strengthen containment lines to reduce further fire spread.
While there was no immediate threat to properties in the area early on Monday morning, residents and landholders should continue to watch for embers which may be blown well ahead of the main fire fronts.
While Cudgegong RFS reported some rainfall across the Kerry Ridge fireground, the Bureau of Meteorology recorded no overnight rainfall at its Mudgee Airport weather station.
Palmers Oaky bushfire
This 17,292 hectares bushfire has been brought under control.
"Firefighters will continue to actively patrol this fireground over the coming days and weeks, extinguishing any hotspots as they appear, to prevent any re-ignition and maintain this containment," the RFS said.
Residents and landholders in the vicinity of these firegrounds should continue to remain vigilant and monitor the situation closely.
