Off the back of a second placing at his first start at Bathurst late last month, Tourmaster continued on with his high placings, taking first in the Robert Oatley Vineyards Maiden Handicap (1100 metres) on Tuesday, January 7 at the Mudgee Racecourse.

The Bjorn Baker (Warwick Farm) trained three-year-old gelding was up against the likes of Thrive In The Home (Malcolm Johnston) and Brother Bassy (Cameron Crockett), both of who sorted second and third, however managed to jump in front and maintain his lead.
"The horse jumped well and put himself there, he did it all on his own really, I just had to steer him," jockey Brodie Loy said.
He had quite a strong momentum and just kept rolling, it was a good race.

Loy rode Tourmaster in his first start at Bathurst and says there's no doubt the runner has a bright future ahead.
"He's new, he'll learn and get better. I'm not sure what Bjorn will do with him now but he'll improve from that.
He's going well, he'll be a nice horse in a couple of preparations.
The Mudgee race meet, which doubled as a fundraiser for local firefighters was initially programmed to appear at Orange, however due to track conditions as a result of the ongoing drought, a transfer was made.
