It's the start of something new for Mudgee District Tennis Club and it's going to be something excitingly out of the ordinary.
This week, primary aged students will be gifted the opportunity to better their tennis abilities in the first installment of many camps to come for the club.
The camp, while headlined by tennis, will incorporate the likes of cricket, soccer and rugby union that all ultimately aid in a variety of ways.
"It's going to be tennis focused but it will be multi-sports. It's going to be a combination of all different games to really develop their hand and eye skills," Mudgee Tennis' head of coaching, Mario Cabral said.
Tennis, like most sports, is high with hand and eye coordination, soccer is really good for footwork, cricket is great for hand eye coordination, and rugby allows you to move and be agile.Mudgee District Tennis Club head of coaching, Mario Cabral
"There's all different kinds of sports that assist with tennis. All of the other things I did with sports growing up really helped me with tennis."
Each of the three days will host individual themes which will welcome teamwork in all regards.
"We're going to create themes, it's going to be really fun. One will be the Olympics, the other a big carnival and the final one is going to be an ATP Cup," Cabral said.
Each day is going to have a different focus and each of the kids are going to have the opportunity to be a part of a team and cheer for each other.
"There are so many benefits like the fun aspect of really enjoying playing a sport, the second thing is developing new friendships and being able to do it in a competitive way with other kids, and it's super healthy to get out and enjoy sport.
"It'll be a big plus for the kids to get out."
The holiday camp will be held on January 15 until January 17 at Mudgee District Tennis Club from 9am for players from ages five to 12.
"We're going to have a lot of fun, you're going to make new friends and you might win some prizes," Mario said.
