Popular local swimming spot 'The Quarry' has been officially closed to the public after a fence protecting the property was cut at the weekend, forcing the owners to take action.
The swimming hole, located between Mudgee and Lue, was for a long time used by members of the public as an unofficial swimming location though it was never officially condoned by the landowners.
Lewis Statham, manager of the property the swimming hole is located on told the Mudgee Guardian that it was not a matter of 'if' but 'when' it would be closed to the public.
"I have been with the property for 5 years managing with the owner. It has always been a decision to stop everyone, it was just a matter of time when to do it and the fence being cut was just it," Mr Statham said.
"To the public please just stay away, [it] will be easier for everyone."
