NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) firefighters from Rylstone station received an emergency call out to reports of a tree fire near the dam foreshore, off Dolomite Road.
"It's currently in inaccessible terrain, earth-moving machinery is being moved into the area this evening to assist with providing access to firefighters from Lue Brigade tomorrow morning," Cudgegong RFS district posted to social media on Monday evening.
"At time of writing, there is no threat to properties."
At 8am on Tuesday the fire was still listed as out-of-control on the NSW RFS' Fires Near Me website.
The fire is burning in the Mid-Western Regional Council area.
