In response to the recent bushfire emergency in the Mid-Western Region and the subsequent recovery operation, Council has appointed a bushfire liaison officer to be the central point of contact for those requiring assistance.

Approximately 173,034 hectares have been burnt by the Palmers Oaky, Kerry Ridge and Meads Creek West fires since December 20.
Multiple buildings have been destroyed as a result of the fires with hundreds of properties affected and as a result the Mid-Western Region has been declared a Natural Disaster Area.
Council's general manager, Brad Cam said in times of emergency there can be misinformation and Council is working to centralise information and put residents in touch with the appropriate agencies.
"There are residents who have sadly lost their homes and we're working directly with the NSW Government's Office of Emergency Management to assist these residents," Mr Cam said.
"The Australian Government has provided grant funding to assist in the recovery effort.
"As part of the recovery effort, Council is appointing a bushfire liaison officer to work directly with affected residents.
"This officer will be the central point of contact and will be available to put affected residents in touch with the appropriate government agencies delivering financial and non-financial assistance."
