With the annual Mudgee Sports Council sports awards ceremony all but a few days away, nominations have been locked in with some categories bustling with more names than others.

Fifteen of the total 61 nominations across all categories have been put forward to the individual under 13s section where Nate Atkinson, Mollie Blackman, Amy Ioane, Chloe McGilvray, Ella Murnane, Eliza English, Riley Taylor, Darcy Rayner, Brooke Rayner, Rachel Marshall, Jessika Newman, Alan Drakeford, Ashleu Maher, Liam Standen and Tom Rich have all been named.
The next hotly contested section is the individual under 18s with Alesha Bennetts, Ben Robson, Jack Webb, Connor McGown, Hayden Lowe, William Drakeford, Arnab Ghosh, Beau Rohr, Maree Ioane, Jorja Bennetts, Charlotte Wilson, Flynn English, Owen Blake and Jack Newman's names in the running.
Justin Gossage, Roy Prasad, Ben Harris, Harry Lee, Jae Marskell and Steve Shannon are all vying for the individual senior crown, while Alison Wilson, Nico Ioane and Doug Barry contest for masters.
Meanwhile, Jarrod Emeny and Bryce Bollinger are nominated for the athletes with a disability category.
As for teams, the under 13s have the under 12s and 13s representative netball team, Mudgee Public School girls softball team, Mudgee Public School girls touch team and the Mudgee Dragons Women's under 13s listed, while the under 18s only has the Mudgee Wombats under 15s nominated.
Mudgee women's 30s and mixed teams (touch), Mudgee Dragons Premier Division and Mudgee Wombats second grade are all going for the award in the senior's category, while Mudgee Women's Bowling Club - senior fours, Mudgee Women's Bowling Club - senior pairs, Division 3 Pennants and Martin and Simon Byrnes hope for the masters title.
Phil English, Angus Wilson and Nic Meyers have been nominated for their Contribution to Sport, while Ben Harris is the sole name listed for Referring.
St Matthews Catholic School year 6 netball team are in for the school award while the Mudgee Cup goes up against the Mudgee Rugby 7s and Lifeskills Musical Riders for Sporting Event of the Year.
"While a certain amount of prestige follows for athletes, clubs and schools of the major award winners, the awards were designed to highlight the achievements of all those who represented their club or school at the higher levels," Mudgee Sports Council secretary, Geoff Robinson.
"They bring into focus the training and sacrifice of the athletes."
The 2019 Mudgee Sports Council sports awards ceremony will be held on February 14 at Club Mudgee from 6.30pm.
