80 shooters nominated to take part in Saturday's event, the first NSW State Selection event on the 2020 calendar.
Predictions made before the shoot were suggesting the highest gun score would sit around the early nineties and while this didn't quite eventuate, it was father and son team, Bart and Nick Brighenti who went on to shoot 78/100, forcing a shoot off to decide who would be the overall winner of the first NSW State Selection.
It was 15-year-old Nick who won the day, the first time in many years that a sub-junior has taken out the Overall Highgun at a state shoot.
Angelo Salamon and Dave Mills shot off for A grade, while Peter Kay, Stephen Payne and Steve Tydd did for seniors leaving Mick Quinlan and Peter Selimiolis for C grade.
The Mudgee team consisting of Stephen Payne, Jack Roth, John Collier and Max Holland took out the Adrian Hayes teams event.
Sunday's 100 target event was the Jim Taylor memorial, an acknowledgement of Taylor who was a founding club member. Nick Brighenti won the Jim Taylor Memorial Handicap Shield.
Due to the inclement weather conditions, numbers were slightly down to the previous day but it was Bart Brighenti who showed consistency shooting 88/100 along with Darren Sasse and Warren Thorpe.
The result for AA was decided by a coin toss as the duo weren't overly thrilled to head back out in the rain.
All shooters who entered for the weekend went into the lucky door prize which was donated by John Dickey. Mick Quinlan won a new 22 calibre rifle fitted with scope and mounts.
Mudgee members thank all those shooters from around the state who attended and would like to remind all that our next two day event will be in August. If you would like to shoot the best course in NSW, you are invited to the Tasco/Fiocchi Challenge.
