A man charged with theft, having a knife in public, and possession of drugs and equipment, was sentenced to a seven-month Intensive Correction Order with a condition that he abstain from drug use.

At about 5.25pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, CCTV footage from Mudgee Big W, showed Robert Bradley Hakki of Mayne Street, Gulgong, take a box off a shelf and run out of a fire exit door. He then crossed Short Street in the path of a vehicle, the driver of which called police.

When officers spoke to the 46-year-old he had in his possession; the stolen item, which was a $400 speaker; and a pocket knife.

Hakki was charged with possession of 0.6g of methamphetamine and a glass water pipe, when he was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for random breath testing in Fisher Street, Gulgong, at about 12.10am on Sunday, July 7, 2019.

In similar circumstances at about 10am on Thursday, October 24, 2019, he was being driven in a vehicle that was stopped in Mayne Street, Gulgong. Knowing his history, he was searched by officers and was found to have a resealable bag that contained grains of methamphetamine.

A 25-year-old woman charged with multiple driving and shoplifting offences, was sentenced to a six-month Community Corrections Order with a condition that she complete drug rehabilitation.

Ashley Kate Cross of Laheys Creek Road, was disqualified for a further 12 months as well. She was also charged with trespassing, when she unlawfully entered a Yarrawonga property on Sunday, August 4, 2019.

Cross was also sentenced for driving while disqualified, in an unregistered vehicle, on three occasions. The first at about 7pm on Saturday, July 27, 2019, when she was seen driving in Yaraandoo Street, Gulgong, the vehicle's registration had expired at the end of 2016 and she'd been disqualified nine days prior.

On the second occasion, about 5.30pm on Friday, October 4, police saw her driving the same vehicle - without number plates - in Queen Street, Gulgong. Then at 5.09pm on Monday, January 6, 2020, highway patrol police saw her parking illegally - nose to kerb - in Market Street, Mudgee, this was a different vehicle although its registration had expired in December 2019.

Cross was charged with shoplifting after taking two jackets and two pairs of track pants - total value of $300 - from a Mudgee sports store on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 27, 2019. And again after police were given CCTV footage from a Mudgee supermarket of the afternoon of Sunday, January 12, 2020, which showed her in a group that took $15 worth of food without paying.

A Dunedoo woman charged with high-range drink driving in Gulgong, was sentenced to an 18-month Community Corrections Order, fined $550 and disqualified for six months to be followed by a 24-month interlock period.

Natasha Anne Spandis of Tallawang Street, Dunedoo, was stopped for random breath testing at about 11.10pm on Saturday, September 7, 2019, after police saw her turn into Scully Street.

The roadside test, which required two attempts, was positive for alcohol and she was taken to Gulgong Police Station. Two attempts were made to record a breath analysis, with a reading of 0.221 eventually produced.

Officers noted in their facts submitted to court for sentence, that the 34-year-old's demeanour swung noticeably - from crying to being uncooperative with police.

A man from the Orange region, charged with high-range drink drinking while going back-and-forth between Mudgee and Gulgong, was fined $1,100 and disqualified for five months to be followed by a 24-month interlock period.

Joshua Dale Corby of Kjollers Road, Clergate, was seen by police who were patrolling Gulgong at about 11.50pm on Saturday, December 14, 2019.

They followed him from Medley Street and stopped him in Kaylene Crescent in order to conduct random breath testing. Officers noted that his actions were slow and he appeared unsteady on his feet.

The 23-year-old admitted, "I've had a few drinks, my last one was a while ago". The roadside breath test was positive and he was taken to Gulgong Police Station, where a breath analysis of 0.154 was recorded.

Corby said he was looking for a friend and was about to return to where he was staying in Mudgee, which is where he'd just come from.

An ACT man who spun his wheels when getting back onto the road after police had stopped him, was convicted in his absence.

Kevin Gweslyn Evans of Groveland Crescent, Isabella Plains, was not before court to face the charge of negligent driving.

He was stopped by police at 3.59pm on Saturday, May 25, 2019, for speeding along the Gollan Road at Goolma. When the officer was standing within one metre of his vehicle, he revved harshly and accelerated off, spinning the wheels in the dirt in the process.

A Cooks Gap man charged with mid-range drink driving in an unregistered vehicle, was sentenced to a six-month Community Corrections Order and disqualified for one month which will be followed by a 12-month interlock period.

Police were patrolling Mayne Street, Gulgong, at about 7.50pm on Sunday, November 29, 2019, when they turned into White Street behind a vehicle that they stopped for a random breath test.

A check of its registration found that it had expired on November 16. The driver - Bruce William Lasham of Ridge Road, Cooks Gap - admitted to drinking "two schooners".

The roadside test was positive and the 57-year-old was taken to Gulgong Police Station, where a breath analysis of 0.081 was recorded.

A 34-year-old man was sentenced to a 12-month Community Corrections Order with a condition that he complete rehabilitation, for two separate alcohol-fueled incidents.

Nathan Woolley of Caledonian Street, Gulgong, was also disqualified for six months, which will be followed by a 24-month interlock period.

He'd been charged with mid-range drink driving, while disqualified, after he returned a positive roadside breath test in Caledonian Street, at about 10pm on Saturday, January 18, 2020. And taken to Gulgong Police Station, where a breath analysis of 0.117 was recorded.

Woolley was charged with destroy/damage property (domestic), after arriving at a family member's home at about 10.30pm on Friday, November 1, 2019. After an argument with the victim, he was told to leave and as he did so he smashed the glass top of an outdoor table, which also caused cuts to his hands.
