After trailing 189 points to 175 points after a visit to Wattle Flat, the Mudgee players were desperate to dig deep to claim the trophy.
When the final scores were in, Mudgee golfers amassed 174 points to Wattle Flat's 157 points, taking the crown by three points (Wattle Flat 346 to Mudgee 349).
The winner was Graham Cross (39) who claimed the first prize voucher ahead of Barry Hadaway (37), Gavin White (36), and then Wattle Flat players Martin Horder (36 cb) and Peter Fitzsimmons (36).
Graham had a shaky first hole but then settled into a very consistent performance to take the win.
Barry had a somewhat mixed day when he recorded three birdies but added two wipes to his score.
The sharpshooter NTP Second Shot on the 7th hole went to visitor, Peter Fitzsimmons, whose chip finished a mere 4cm from the target.
Ball winners were visitor Laurie Newsome, Rod Wilson, Steve Sinclar (Gordon GC), David Halpin, Trish Jones, Bruce Bell, David Evans, Jeff Williamson, Kel Wilton, Paul Moore, Colin Jones, Bob Colley and Michael Baun.
