A man has been charged over a string of alleged thefts and domestic-related intimidation in Mudgee.

According to a report from Police, at about 7am on Friday, 21 February, officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District responded to reports of a domestic-related incident at a home at Mudgee.
According to the report, Police were told a 42-year-old man had been aggressive toward the 51-year-old female resident, before allegedly threatening her and taking rings off her fingers, then damaging items in the home and smashing windows of a car.
Police say the woman fled to a neighbour's home to contact police when the man allegedly followed her and smashed their glass door with a hammer, before fleeing the area. Officers then established a crime scene and an investigation was commenced.

A short time later, police were advised that a Volkswagen SUV had been stolen from Lions Drive, Mudgee, and had been seen driving along Church Street.
Police later located the Volkswagen which was abandoned just after 8.30am in Farthing Lane, and a further crime scene was established.
Following inquiries and a search of the area, police arrested the man, who was hiding under a blanket in a home on Gladstone Street, and took him to Mudgee Police Station.

As part of their inquiries, officers were also alerted to a break-in at a home on Rocky Waterhole Road earlier that morning, where it's alleged the man stole clothing and jewellery.
He was charged with three counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, two counts of destroy or damage property, two counts of use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, steal from person, common assault, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and break and enter house.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Mudgee Local Court, where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday, March 11 2020.
