As I watched from a distance as the flames and smoke seemed to engulf my home, my only thoughts were for the safety of those heroic men and women who were standing toe to toe fighting the raging flames.
I was prepared to find that our whole street would have burnt to the ground. As the flames moved on and the smoke somewhat dissipated I was amazed to see my home and all others near mine, still standing.
My sense of relief was enormous not just for myself but for my neighbours also.
Words alone could not express my gratitude and admiration to all those wonderful faceless and nameless people who fought so hard for the community of Lithgow I sincerely thank you all.
