Thousands marched all over Australia, also, to demand change, and in fact, schoolchildren and thousands of concerned people all over the world have joined marches, on the eve of the United Nations Climate Change Summit.
David Attenborough, has recently said that coal mining, and the burning of fossil fuels is mainly responsible for the global warming which is the main concern for the Summit now happening. He speaks of how the climate change is affecting the Great Barrier Reef.
Concerned Scientists from around the world are warning of a 'climate crisis' which will have dangerous impacts for generations to come.
No wonder schoolchildren around the world are concerned, and many of them severely depressed by the lack of action by our leaders! Here in our region, the Bylong Mine has not been approved. We should be overjoyed, and indeed many of us are, except some who are leaders in our community, and still don't see the significance!
So many people still have their heads in the sand, indeed, our own Prime Minister is not even attending the United Nations Summit! Nor for that matter is President Trump!
Dr. Pep Canadell, chief research scientist at the CSIRO Climate Science Centre has said that the level of emission cuts need to be roughly tripled to reach the goal of limiting warming to below two degrees!
This year the Bushfire season has started earlier than ever, and with a severity that can only bring dread to the year ahead! Its surely time we all took our heads out of the sand, and do all we can to avert the dreadful future so many school children around the world are seeing.
