Mid-Western Regional Council have closed further services in accordance with government policies.
Council has closed:
- All children's playgrounds in the Mid-Western Regional Local Government Area
- Mudgee, Gulgong, Kandos and Rylstone skate parks
- Mudgee, Gulgong and Rylstone dog parks
- All public toilets
- Lawson Park closed to vehicles
- Billy Dunn Oval, Gulgong
- Victoria Park, Gulgong
- Victoria Park, Mudgee
- Waratah Park, Kandos
- Access road to Rylstone Showground
- Barbecue facilities in passive parks
- Council's dual Customer Service Centres and Libraries in Gulgong, Kandos and Rylstone (closing 4.30pm Wednesday, 25 March)
- Council's Customer Service Centres in Mudgee (closing 4.30pm Friday, 27 March). The team will be available online and over the phone only.
- Mid-Western Regional Council Mudgee Administration Building (closing 4.30pm Friday, 27 March). All services that are delivered out of this building including Planning, Health and Building, Economic Development and Finance will continue and staff are available online and via telephone.
- Council's Operations Administration Building (closing 4.30pm Friday, 27 March). All services that are delivered out of this building will continue and staff are available online and via telephone.
- Ironed Out (closing 4pm Friday, 27 March, please collect ironing before this time, no further ironing items will be accepted from today)
- Waste Facility Stores ('Tip Shops') in Mudgee, Gulgong and Kandos (closing COB Friday, 27 March)
The following services will remain open:
- Passive parks for exercise only
- Community Transport
- Meals on Wheels
- Family Day Care
- Government to provide free childcare for parents who need it during pandemic
Mid-Western Regional Council says it is committed to ensuring the health and safety of its staff and our community, and in an effort to do so and further limit the spread of COVID-19 will be making some changes to services.
Council said the decision to do so have not been made lightly, but are essential to protect our community and comply with state and federal government social distancing orders.

All other services will continue as normal, including waste collection, water and sewer services, and cemetery services.
Council's General Manager, Brad Cam said Council will continue to review services in line with direction from the state and federal governments.
"Whilst we're working to minimise our physical interactions with the public, Council staff will be working remotely where possible and will be delivering services online and via telephone," Mr Cam said.
"I thank our community for their patience and understanding as Council, like many other organisations responds to this quickly evolving situation as best we can.
"I am pleased to see our community supporting one and other during this very difficult time and I urge everyone to continue to do so. Please support local businesses, particularly those impacted by closures, and follow the social distancing and personal hygiene directions from health authorities put in place to protect us all."
Council's regularly planned March meeting was restricted to registered speakers only, in light of Coronavirus concerns and safety of the public.
