Following a Mudgee Fine Foods Incorporated (MFFI) meeting last night, the decision was made to proceed with the weekend's events.
As a result, Saturday's Farmers' Market will take place at Robertson Park from 8:30am until 12:30pm, while those attending Sunday's Farm Walk are encouraged to meet at the Mudgee Visitor Information Centre car park by 9am prior to visiting Bonnie View Produce's garden and di Lusso Estate.
Mudgee Fine Foods President Paul Willoughby has confirmed that "our Farm Walk and Farmers' Market said despite the event continuing, there is an emphasis on remaining in touch with government guidelines following the coronaviurs situation.
"With the onset of panic purchasing and the depletion of supermarket stock, there will be huge demand for fresh produce from both our regular customers and visitors alike," Willoughby added.
"It's probably a much safer place to be than the supermarket right now."
A number of proactive steps have been introduced in an effort to mitigate possible exposure at Saturday's market.
The standard market layout will be altered to ensure there is plenty of space between stalls and room for people to move around easily, minimising person-to-person contact.
Multiple hand sanitising stations will also be on-site as well as regular surface cleaning to be expected.
Attendees of Sunday's event are encouraged to practice social distancing.
