Timothy Steele Lloyd of Mountain View Road, Mudgee, was fined a total of $2,200 for charges of intimidation, contravening an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO), and resisting police.
On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, the 41-year-old began pestering the victim while she was at work to buy him cigarettes. He then confronted her and - without her knowledge - drove her work vehicle away only to later return it and cause another confrontation.
That afternoon Lloyd caused another scene at the victim's workplace and the police were called, they made a number of attempts to track him down but the location on his phone indicated that he was outside Mudgee. Officers were contacted by one of his family members that evening, who indicated they'd received a number of concerning messages.
Throughout that day Lloyd had told the victim and the family member that he'd planned to arm himself with a knife and "if the police come I will run at them so they shoot me", also that he would "take out as many as I can". At about 1am he was found at his residence and struggled with officers when he was arrested.
An ADVO was put in place following the incident, which he breached on the afternoon of Monday, February 3, 2020, when the victim was in Lions Park, Mudgee, and Lloyd drove his vehicle into the attached reserve. He got out and began yelling and said to one person in the group "I'm going to hurt you" and to the victim "get out of my road or I'll hurt you too".
His solicitor, Richard Wise, told the court "the events of December 11 were bizarre to say the least". To which Magistrate David Day said, "what a selfish person your client must be, imagine the distress it would of caused the police let alone the other emergency services in attendance [if he fulfilled his plans]".
"If he'd have been taken to the hospital, medical staff would've been confronted with gunshot wounds, which is rare in Mudgee. His plan was selfish in the extreme, thankfully he didn't execute it, for the sake of those who would've attended the the grisly scene."
