It's been six months since the red and whites lost that gripping, extra time encounter to the Bathurst Panthers and Jack Littlejohn's boys would be hell bent on putting that result behind them by raising the club's second top tier premiership in five seasons.
The former NRL playmaker will retake the reins in 2020 and after having some key players leave the club in the off-season, will get to play alongside two former NRL competitors as Harry Siejka and Clay Priest will don the red v this winter.
Littlejohn's impact on the first-grade roster was evident in 2019 after he took a team that didn't make the finals in 2018 all the way to the last game of the season.
After a poor outing in the Bathurst Knockout where Mudgee chose to leave a few key players at home, what are the expectations for the Dragons in 2020? Littlejohn's side has plenty of experience and plenty of star power but what else does the skipper want to see from his men in the upcoming Group 10 season and how can the red and whites go one step further?
Here's his set of six...
What needs to go right for your club to be crowned Group 10 premiers:
Jack Littlejohn: We need to keep everyone on the field for majority of the season unlike last year when we really didn't have the same 17 players more than a couple of weeks in a row.
Who's the player to watch from your club in 2020?
Jack Littlejohn: Young jack Beasley had a really good year last year and think he is ready for another big one.
Which game have you got circled in your calendar and why?
Jack Littlejohn: It was round one against panthers obviously it's the grand final rematch and think It would be a really good game to kick off the season.
Which opposition player do you think is the most dangerous in the competition?
Jack Littlejohn: I think Daniel Mortimer will be massive for CYMS. I played with Morts at Newtown and he is a class player so he will be someone to watch.
What would you like to see change in Group 10 in 2020?
Jack Littlejohn: At this stage with everything happening in the world I would just like the group 10 season to go ahead.
Do you think more needs to be done to help smaller clubs such as Oberon?
Jack Littlejohn: Yeah I do I'm not sure what can be done but the more teams in the competition the better so I think we should help however we can.
