The Bob Burns Cup was inevitably the final shoot for the Mudgee Sporting Clays for some time, on March 22 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bob was born in Scone but moved to Mudgee at a young age, and was the General Post Master for 40 years.
Burns has been a patron of Mudgee Sporting Clays and has been given life membership at the club, with his own cup introduced some 30 years ago as a way to encourage members to come together and compete twice a year.
The competition is over a person's first 50 targets plus your handicap, enabling shooters of all abilities to have a chance of putting their name on the cup.
The targets are always set by Max Holland, our club Secretary and a long term member, who finds himself adding a few 'sneaky' targets in and utilising the old fashioned hand-trap.
The event had a welcoming roll up with shooters from Dubbo, Gunnedah, Central Coast, Scone, Sydney all competing.
In the end it was a close finish, with Max Holland taking out the day.
Second place went to Peter Hayman from Portland who was closely followed by Ian Stewart from Lithgow.
With all of the COVID-19 restrictions in place, this will be the last shoot for the club indefinitely until the government allows for the re-commencement of events.
