Names are what define us, they describe that which they label. So what are we to make of Bowdens calling its operation at Lue a silver mine.

Silver conjurs up images of beauty, shiny, clean and precious.
But is that a true description of the mine? It is not.
The mine at Lue will despite their website saying "the eventual mine development will produce substantial quantities of silver along with minor quantities of zinc and lead as bi-products will in fact produce in the sixteen year life of the mine just 2.5 tons of silver and 80,000 tons of lead, or "average production during the first three years of operation will be approximately 5.4 million ounces of silver per annum and 6,000 tonnes of zinc per annum and 5,200 tonnes of lead per annum."
So a more descriptive name might be a Lead Mine or perhaps even a Nickel one.
Concerning about this operation is the huge amount of water that it requires ,water that will be taken from the aquifer that feeds the Goulburn River, that it will build a dam in a valley perched above the headwaters of Lawson Creek, what could possibly go wrong?
The EIS for this project is out and I encourage all who may be concerned about this project to read it.
