A board meeting held on Tuesday, June 16 revealed the proposed date for senior men is July 20, followed by senior women and juniors on July 22, and Aussie Hoops on July 27.
However, due to being played indoors, Mudgee Basketball Association president Geoff Robinson says this means a lot of restrictions will need to be exercised.
"There are still six weeks before the start date and things could change for the better or the worse," Robinson said.
"There are also more restrictions when playing indoors which will have to be taken into account."
Basketball is no exception to being missed during the past couple of months like many other sports which has fueled excitement for many.
"Everybody would have missed their particular sport and basketball players are no different," Robinson said.
Fitness and skill levels could be a factor for the first few weeks but everyone I've spoken to is approaching the season with excitement and great expectation.

While numbers aren't concrete just yet, Robinson is encouraging people of all ages to get involved in the "fastest growing sport in that state".
"As we are starting from scratch with the seniors, women are especially invited to get a team together as we have been struggling with numbers the last couple of years," he said.
"The men's competition has been strong with six to eight teams over the last few seasons, and teams are already being organised.
"Any senior player, or junior wishing to play in the men's competition, but is not signed up, should head to the PCYC on Monday, July 20 from 6.30 for the one night knockout prior to the season launch on Monday, July 27."
"Any junior girl or boy out there wanting to play but not in one of the teams that played back in March can still register for the competition, that like the seniors will finish at the end of November.
"You won't be disappointed."
A one night knockout competition for teams to sort their lineups will be held on Wednesday, July 22 at the PCYC.
Senior team nominations will now be accepted via email wollbah@activ8.net.au or 0427721674 and close on Friday 17th July.
