With achievements, records and goals unable to be reached in their normal time frame, it would be reasonable to assume a lack of nominations is possible.
The Mudgee Guardian understands that a formal decision is yet to be made by the Sports Awards board, with a meeting not to take place until September due to Council instructions, where a decision will likely be made.
Last year, 61 nominations were put forth with 15 of those belonging to the under 13s category.
In an interview earlier this year, Mudgee Sports Council secretary, Geoff Robinson said the awards are considered to represent dedication and commitment put in by all athletes.
"While a certain amount of prestige follows for athletes, clubs and schools of the major award winners, the awards were designed to highlight the achievements of all those who represented their club or school at the higher levels," he said.
"They bring into focus the training and sacrifice of the athletes."
