Peter Raymond Roberts of Beryl Road, Gulgong, submitted pleas of guilty to; not recording prescribed info in work diary; working more than standard maximum time; and two counts of resting less than standard minimum time.
The 67-year-old was stopped by police at about 10.40am on Monday, April 13, 2020, after they noticed that his B-double was travelling over the speed limit along the Black Stump Way at Leadville.
Upon request, he handed over his work diary.
Police noticed that for April 3, 2020, Roberts hadn't totalled up his work and rest hours or sign the page.
And that for the 24-hour period from the morning of February 14, 2020, he hadn't taken the required seven hours of continuous rest, instead logging five hours and forty-five minutes. Which resulted in a charge categorised as a 'substantial risk'.
For the 24-hour period commencing the night of February 25, 2020, Roberts worked over the standard maximum time [12 hours for a 24-hour period] by 15 minutes. This was while driving from Narromine to Gulgong and return.
During that period, he also failed to take the seven hours continuous rest, only taking five. This was categorised as a 'critical risk', with police noting that level represented a significant danger to other road users due to the chances of fatigue.
